Think your dissertation is ridiculous?
We all go through long bouts of depression, self-doubt and insecurity. What can bring that much needed relief and dispel the clouds? It is not boring self-help books or heavy duty philosophy. It is good old fashioned humour and seeing the lighter side of things that make us feel a tad better about ourselves.
Most dissertation students constantly crib about how mediocre their title is. Worry if it is good enough, relevant enough, or smart enough. Is there a lighter side to dissertations at all? A, few off the wall topics that will bring a smile to your face!
1.More to dolphins than meets the eye!
Dolphins are cute creatures and you’ve read somewhere that they’re incredibly helpful and intelligent. But how many of us have sat and wondered what lies in the mind of a dolphin? Or pondered about the intentional behavior of one?
What dolphins want? Animal intentionality and tool use, is a research that was carried out by the California institute of Technology. The research delves on tool use amongst Caledonian crows and dolphins. Certainly a better read than, gloomy and mildly frightening, global warming research papers.
2.Clothes, that are, slightly more intelligent than you!
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Department of Engineering is researching on a fabric that can monitor physiological changes such as respiration, body temperature and movements. This will definitely give mommies who constantly wonder if their babies are warm enough, a break. They can just trust the sweater to know.
3.Not a basket case!
Basket weaving in Botswana is not a topic that all of us would find very interesting. Most of us would struggle to write a few lines about this topic, leave alone an entire dissertation about it. Researchers from Cape Town South Africa have written a dissertation about the effects of basket weaving on palm and dye plants in Botswana.
We can be sure that they’d have weaved in a lot of interesting information.
Feeling better now?
There is nothing that can beat the blues than a good guffaw. Stop feeling snowed under with dissertation tasks. The better and lighter you feel about yourself the more your chances are of acing that dissertation!
